The 4th International Workshop on Design in Civil and Environmental Engineering (DCEE4) will be held at National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan during October 30-31, 2015. The organization team would like to welcome all the scholars worldwide working on design to exchange breakthrough and ideas on their latest research.
Design has long been considered a discipline in many engineering fields, with its own faculty, research and education communities, conferences and journals. Although design is a critical part of civil and environmental engineering, it has typically been housed within each of the civil domains, shrouded by analysis, replaced by standards and building codes, and unable to cross the disciplinary boundaries as it was meant to do. Yet, many of the greatest challenges that humanity will face in the 21st century will require civil and environmental engineers to develop creative and innovative solutions that will radically alter our infrastructure and the built environment.
We are pleased to invite you to the 4th International Workshop on Design for Civil and Environmental Engineering where we will explore the nature of design in civil and environmental engineering and establish the foundation for civil design research. The theme of this year’s workshop is design education for future civil and environmental engineers. The workshop will feature tutorials and keynote presentations on this subject. The papers in the technical sessions will address a wide variety of topics related to design in CEE while the working group sessions will provide an opportunity for more in-depth discussion. Laboratory tours and a technical tour will also be arranged.
